Initially the Club played in the Aberystwyth & District League and between 1965 and 1982 the Championship was won 9 times.

The Club acquired a lease from Ceredigion County Council for Cae Baker in 1975 and the changing rooms were built in 1980. The Clubhouse was built by volunteers and was officially opened by the then Wales manager Mike England in July 1981. In 1982 the Club became founder members of the Central Wales League Division 2, where they won the Championship and were promoted to the First Division.

In 1990 the Cymru Alliance was formed with Penrhyncoch being one of the founder members as the new pyramid took place. It was a disappointing first season as the standard proved higher than expected. To meet the new criteria a new 60 seater stand was built and barriers erected around the pitch. It was during this period the Club established itself as one of the leading Clubs in the Cymru Alliance and finished a credible sixth in 1998.

Due to the increased costs of travel the Club withdrew from the Cymru Alliance and rejoined the Spar Mid Wales League, where the Club was quite successful, winning the Championship in 2001/02 & 2002/03. In the Spring of 2004, the Club decided to accept promotion back to the Cymru Alliance if they finished high enough in the League. A joint venture was formed with Aberystwyth Town F.C. as the Club could use their players to benefit both teams. In 2004/2005 Penrhyncoch F.C. took their place back in the Cymru Alliance and in the first season had mixed fortunes, finishing fourteenth in the league, but reached the Final of the League Cup losing an exciting game to Bala.

In the 1995/96 season, the Club managed by Kevin Lewis, reached the Final of the F.A.W Trophy, losing narrowly 2 – 1 to the reigning cup holders Rhydymwyn F.C. Unfortunately, Lee Jenkins ex Aston Villa was injured and his absence had a critical bearing on the result. The teams goal was scored by current manager Gari Lewis.

Since this time the Club has continued to punch well above its weight. Until 2023 the Club has only spent one season out of Tier 2, bouncing straight back up by winning the League in 20015/16. Currently top of the Lock Stock Adral League North Tier 3 the Club are hoping to gain promotion to Tier 2 at the first attempt.

The season 2023/2024 was very successful. Under the management team of Gari Lewis, Aneurin Thomas and Iwan Roberts, the team won the Tier 3 North East Ardal league and will return to Tier 2 football. The club also lost 5 – 4 to Newport City FC in the final of the FAW Trophy at Newtown.

Cymru Alliance

League Cup winners: 1998

Central Wales Challenge Cup

Winners: 2003, 2012

Mid Wales League

Champions; Ar y dechrau chwaraeodd y Clwb yn Gynghrair Aberystwyth a’r District a rhwng 1965 a 1982 enillwyd y Bencampwriaeth 9 gwaith.

Cafodd y Clwb y cyfle gan Gyngor Sir Ceredigion i rentu Cae Baker yn 1975 ac adeiladwyd yr ystafelloedd newid yn 1980. Cafodd y Clwb ei adeiladu gan wirfoddolwyr a chafodd ei agor yn swyddogol gan reolwr Cymru ar y pryd, Mike England, yng Ngorffennaf 1981. Yn 1982 bu’r Clwb yn aelod sefydlol o Gynghrair Canolbarth Cymru Detholiad 2, cyn iddynt ennill y Bencampwriaeth ac yna cael ei hychwanegu i’r Detholiad Cyntaf.

Ym 1990 ffurfiwyd Cynghrair Cymru gyda Phenrhyncoch yn un o’r aelodau sefydlu wrth i’r pyramid newydd ddod i rym. Roedd yn gyfnod cyntaf siomedig gan fod y safon yn uwch na’r disgwyl. I fodloni’r meini prawf newydd, adeiladwyd stand newydd sy’n dal 60 o bobl a sefydlwyd rhwystri o amgylch y cae. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn sefydlodd y Clwb ei hun fel un o’r Clybiau arweiniol yn y Gynghrair Cymru a gorffennodd yn chweched yn 1998.

Oherwydd y costau teithio cynyddol, tynnodd y Clwb yn ôl o Gynghrair Cymru ac ailymunodd â Chynghrair Canolbarth Cymru, lle fu’r Clwb yn gymharol lwyddiannus, gan ennill y Fwltan yn 2001/02 a 2002/03. Yng Ngwanwyn 2004, penderfynodd y Clwb dderbyn dyrchafiad yn ôl i Gynghrair Cymru os oeddent yn gorffen yn ddigon uchel yng Nghynghrair Canolbarth Cymru. Cynhelid menter gytundebol gyda Thref Aberystwyth F.C. alluogi’r Clwb i ddefnyddio eu chwaraewyr i fuddio’r ddau dîm. Yn 2004/2005, dychwelyd Penrhyncoch F.C. i’w lle yng Nghynghrair Cymru ac yn y tymor cyntaf cafwyd canlyniadau cymysg, gan orffen yn bedwerydd a chwarae yn y Rownd Derfynol o Gwpan y Gynghrair gan golli gêm gyffrous i Bala.

Yn nhymor 1995/96, cyrhaeddodd y Clwb, a reolwyd gan Kevin Lewis, y Rownd Derfynol o Drophi F.A.W, gan golli’n agos 2 – 1 i’r enillwyr presennol Rhydymwyn F.C. Yn anffodus, cafodd Lee Jenkins, cyn chwaraewr Aston Villa, ei anafu a chafodd ei absenoldeb effaith gref ar y canlyniad. Cafodd gôl y tîm ei sgorio gan y rheolwr presennol Gari Lewis.

Ers y cyfnod hwn mae’r Clwb wedi parhau i wneud yn arbennig o dda. Tan 2023, dim ond un tymor sydd wedi’i chwarae tu fas i Tier 2, gan neidio syth yn ôl gan ennill y Gynghrair yn 2015/16. Ar hyn o bryd, ar ben y Lock Stock Ardal League North Tier 3, mae’r Clwb yn gobeithio cael dyrchafiad i’r Tier 2 ar ei ymgais gyntaf.

Roedd tymor 2023/2024 yn llwyddiant mawr. O dan dîm rheoli Gari Lewis, Aneurin Thomas ac Iwan Roberts, enillodd y tîm y Gynghrair Ardal Gogledd Ddwyrain Tier 3 a byddant yn dychwelyd i bêl-droed Tier 2. Collodd y clwb hefyd 5 – 4 i Newport City FC yn y rownd derfynol o gwpan FAW yng Nghastell-nedd.

Penrhyncoch Football Club was founded as recently as 1965 following a meeting in the Old Church School. Initially the Club played in the Aberystwyth & District League and between 1965 and 1982 the Championship was won 9 times.
