Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the launch of our new website! will now serve as home for all things Roosters going into the future, and our old website will be taken down shortly. Here you will find match previews, squad news and so much more!

We are also proud to announce that we are one of the few clubs in the JD Cymru Leagues to offer readers the option to view our website in both English and Welsh. To view the website in Cymraeg, click the dropdown box on the top of the page.

The site is not 100% complete yet and therefore you may find the odd thing uncompleted or out of place, so we ask that that you are patient. We assure you that we are still actively working on improving the site.

Roosters sign young defensive prospect Williams

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the signing of young defender Cai Williams, who joins the club from Aberystwyth Town.

Last season, the 16-year-old featured for both the Seasiders Under-16s and Under-19s, overall making 26 appearances in all competitions for both sides. The youngster has also turned out for the youth sides of both Talybont and Llanilar.

Christy becomes signing number eight!

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the signing of Christy Gale, who joins the club from Lampeter Town.

The English-born midfielder developed in the academies at Cardiff City, Swansea City and Aberystwyth Town, but has spent a majority of his playing days with Lampeter, spending eight seasons overall with the club. He also spent spent a season with English side Mangotsfield Sports.

‘I’m delighted to be joining Penrhyn for the upcoming season” said Christy. It’s been great seeing some old faces, and the whole squad has made me feel right at home. It’s a very strong group with some outstanding talent and a fantastic work ethic. I’m really excited to see what we can achieve!”

Penrhyncoch FC Retained List 2023/24

Penrhyncoch FC can now release our retained list ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Sion James, Jonathan Foligno and Josh Shaw will remain registered to the club, but will primarily feature for the reserves in the upcoming season. All three have made significant contributions to the club over the course of their careers and no doubt go into the books as club legends. We would like to sincerely thank Sion, Jon and Josh for everything they have done in a Roosters shirt, and we wish them all the best for the future!

As previously announced, goalkeeper Lewis James has left the club to join league rivals Bow Street. Lewis made 21 appearances for the club since signing from Penparcau last summer. Fellow goalkeeper Oliver Farebrother will also be leaving the club. After joining the club in January from Ashton Town, he went on to make 15 appearances.

Powerful midfielder Liam Lewis will also leave the club this summer. Liam made 20 appearances for the club last season, scoring 4 goals.

Defender Matthew Pemberthy has also decided to end his time with the Roosters. Pembs joined the club from Bow Street in 2019 and made 65 appearances for the club.

Finally, loanee Jamie Jones will leave following his spell at the Roosters. Jamie joined the club on loan from Aberystwyth Town in January and went on to make 18 appearances for the club.

The club remains in talks with Elian Evans and Tomos Evans and an update will be released in due course.

As announed, Daniel Owen and Courtney Perkins who both joined the club on loan in January have permanently for the club and will be part of the 2023/24 squad.

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the permanent signings of Daniel Owen and Courtney Perkins.

The pair of youngsters joined on loan from Aberystwyth Town and Newtown respectively in January but have made their moves to Cae Baker permanent.

Daniel turned out 23 times in all competitions for the Roosters last season scoring five goals in the process.

Courtney made 14 appearances for the club during his loan spell, netting three times.

Dion signs for the Roosters!

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Dion Phillips, who joins the club from Ceredigion League Division 1 champions Ffostrasol Wanderers.

The 24-year-old made his senior debut for Cardiff Met University and has featured in a European competition, coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Luxembourgish side Progres Niederkorn in the preliminary round for the 2020 UEFA Europa League. He went on to make 16 more appearances for the Archers over the course of the 2019/20 season, scoring his only goal against Bala Town in September 2019.

After leaving the capital, Dion signed for Carmarthen Town in 2021, following their relegation from the top flight. He made 7 appearances at Richmond Park before joining Ffostrasol the following January.

It was with the Ceredigion League side where Dion showed his clinical side. He turned out 40 times for the Wanderers, scoring an extremely impressive 50 goals in all competitions, comfortably finishing as the league’s top scorer on 28 goals.

Iwan Roberts joins the coaching staff

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the addition of Iwan Roberts to Gari Lewis’ coaching team.

Iwan is no stranger to Cae Baker, having spent a majority of his playing days with the Roosters in 1990’s and early 2000’s. He has also spent time coaching with the Roosters, with further experience being with Aberystwyth Town’s U19s side in 2017.

Iwan will be an important part of Gari Lewis’ background staff, and will work closely alongside him and assistant manager Aneurin Thomas as the Roosters look to gain promotion back to the second tier at the first time of asking.

Liam James joins the Roosters

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the signing of Lewis James, who joins the club from Ceredigion League Division 1 runner-ups Llechryd FC.

Liam is no stranger to Cae Baker, having previously spent time with the club before departing due to work commitments.

In his career, the defender, who can also play in midfield, has also represented Aberystwyth Town, Cardiff Met and Cardigan Town. He spent the 2022/23 season with Llechryd, making 17 appearances and scoring 5 goals.

”I’m really grateful to Gari for the opportunity” Liam told club media. ”I’m really looking forward to playing for Penrhyn and I’m hoping I can be a positive influence on the team and help get the club back to where it belongs.”

Jonny returns to fire Penrhyn back to tier 2!

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Jonathan Evans, who returns to the club after three seasons with Aberystwyth Town.

Johnny started his career in the acadamies of Cardiff City and Accrington Stanley before returning to Ceredigion to sign for Aberystwyth in 2011. He spent five years with the Seasiders before signing for Penrhyn for the first time in 2016.

He then returned to Park Avenue for the 2016/17 season where he made 10 appearances scoring three goals.

His second stint at Cae Baker started in 2017 and he spent a further three years at the club before once again returning to Aberystwyth in 2020.

During his third stint with the Black and Greens, Johnny made 82 appearances scoring 14 goals, including six last season, ending up as they club’s top scorer, before announcing his departure from Park Avenue at the end of the 2022/23 season.

”I just felt that with everything that’s happened this year with the tragic passing of Bones, a man that I hold so dear to my heart, it was the right thing to do and I will make it my personal mission to make him proud and get this club back where it belongs. Forever in our hearts, love you Bonesy!” Johnny told the club’s media upon his return.

Harri becomes Roosters’ Second Summer Signing

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the return of defender Harri Horwood, who returns to the club after spending last season at Aberystwyth Town.

Harri returns to the club for his second spell after appearing 19 times for the Seasiders last season, with 17 of those appearances being in the Cymru Premier.

The lightning-fast full-back, who can also be deployed on the wing, previously spent the 2021/22 season at Cae Baker, where he turned out 31 times for Aneurin Thomas’ side scoring twice as they went on to finish a very respectable ninth place in the Cymru North that season.

Harri started his career with Aberystwyth before moving to the capital for university, where he signed for Cardiff Met. Whilst down south, he also turned out for Briton Ferry Llansawel, appearing 10 times at Old Road helping the club to a third place finish in the Cymru South.

”Honestly, I can’t wait to get back into training with the boys!” Harri told the club’s media. ”After gaining great experience with Aberystwyth Town last season, I feel that I can use that to have a positive influence on the squad.

It was very difficult on and off the pitch for the club last season, hopefully we can put it right this year and make Bones proud!”

Club Stalwart Leigh is a Rooster once more!

Penrhyncoch FC are delighted to announce the return of long standing goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins, who returns to the club after spending the 2022/23 season with Aberystwyth Town.

Leigh has spent a majority of his career at Cae Baker and has made hundreds of appearances for the Roosters to date with spells at Park Avenue inbetween.

He first switched Penrhyn for Aber in 2018 and started the season as first-choice goalkeeper for the Seasiders before a cruel injury ended his first stint at the club and he returned to Penrhyncoch in the November.

He cemented himself as the Roosters’ no. 1 yet again following his return and spent a further 4 years with the club before once again returning to Aberystwyth for the 2022/23 season. Leigh was limited to only 5 appearances as he played back-up to Lewis Webb and Matthew Turner, who spent last season on loan at Aber from Swansea City and Cardiff City respectively.

”I’m looking forward to being apart of this club again.” Leigh told the club’s media. ”Obviously it was a bad year on and off but hopefully better times are ahead. I’m looking forward to getting going again!”

”I have one aim, to bounce straight back up and get this club back to where it belongs. Also a good cup run.”
